Accounts Lecturer:"The cost of a LCD TV was 7000 dollars before 3 years & now it is about 2400 dollars".
Student: "Yeah, technology"
Accounts Lectuer: "China!"
Student: "!!!"
and then goes on & on abt India Vs China and all tht blah blah which a few thousand people are talking abt!
This was the way my second half of the accounting subject went at UTS. There are few lecturers who talk about stuff inside the book and fail to address the world outside the authors, but on the contrary there are lecturers who feel directly opposite. I prefer to attend lectures which display the latter ability more. Invariably at the end of the day you would end up reading the text book, so it doesnt make any sense of the lecturer vommiting the same in the class. This guy impressed me a lot by his lecturing style.
The difference between Indian MBA and here is that, over there you get Guest lectures from industry, pro's, but over here the classes themselves are taken by industry professions. If you notice all my prof's, they are people who are still involved with the industry. There are merits and demerits of both the system, that your education tends to become more industry centric if you have a prof who is actively involved with the industry, and at the same time you may miss the theoritical point of view, since they regard that as crap, most of the times.
This is the last week of the first semester. Things have moved rapidly than expected. It just feels like I landed in Sydney yesterday. I won't be suprised if I have the same feeling for a long time, may be even till the time I return. Now my exams are starting in 3 weeks time and I have sufficient time to figure out lots of things about it (I hope!).
With having hope in the soul!!!
