One year exactly!

It has been a year since I started blogging. Sambhar to Sydney was incorporated, given a life, made into an entity in this technosphere. From being yet another mortal soul sweeping the face of this earth, I got some recognition. A type of recognition which I never would imagine to attain, especially once after the one which I wanted, I didn't. Atleast I knew ten people, who read my blog and commented. It became an interest very soon. And after that 'very soon' period it became an addiction.

The nectar was too sweet to forgo. Addiction started becaming the essence of existence. I thought about blog topics while working, while jogging, while juggling, while driving, while shaving, while sleeping. I started reading blogs. They became 'the' essentials. I started commenting on blogs. I replied to the comments which was posted in my blog. I started checking my blog once in ten minute to view any comments.

I made blogging friends. I met them; went out for movies with them, had lunch with them, ate "molagai bajji" on Besant Nagar beach with them, went to the Singapore zoo with them. I became a mini blogging maniac.

I started reading novels to develop authencity. I used to console myself saying it will be useful for academic writting. I wrote several drafts before pressing the publish button. These precautions held no good to avoid the grammatical mistakes I made. Yet I didn't give a bull about them. I kept writing; kept writing for the shiere joy of writing and re-writing.

In general circumstances time always is limited but when I began writing I just wrote as if there is always abundance at store. The store felt as big as a Woolworths warehouse using the Just-in -Time delivery mechanisms. I always had stuff to write, crap to post, urge to press publish button due to the inventory availability.

Then suddenly I travelled 25000 miles away. Atmosphere changed. Found myself under a non-ozone layer. I found myself closer to the South pole. I started pursuing a dream. A dream of learning the art of management. I started chasing time. The more I chased, the more it ran away from me. I didnt give up, trying my best to catch it. When I felt I caught it, I feel I have a long way to go before catching it!

But certainly this time around, I say with urge, "WORDS" mean the world to me!!!

To start up, I am back!

Finally I have attained the state of Nirvana, not by listening to Kurt Kobain but by getting myself some time allocated towards blogging. But this time around I am more interested in blogging about my MBA. It's bin a semester now after me being here, so don't be surprised if I turn Sambhar 2 Sydney into a blog exclusive about the learning's of a western b-school.

I do also want to blog about general topics, like before. But my interests seems more turned on at the education front for the timing. It may be mainly because of the fact that Spring semester is a week away and I have got into my specialisation subjects. A stage has been reached into the program where I am no longer a Toddler in the system. I need to stand up and get people notice me.

My plans for the semester range from starting new communities within the business school for helping new subjects adapt to the changes better and also do something worthwhile for the marketing society of the business school. I may also come up with more communities for Indian students since there are so many of them who want to something but not able to channelise their energy in right direction. Social Marketing at this point in time becomes much more important than ever before, I reckon.

So lets see how I am able to cope up with Spring!

Change II

What’s a change? An object or an entity which gets transformed may be, possibly, into a better state of being or existence. Change is something which is never constant. That’s why it’s called change else it would be something else. The biggest quandary that organizations or people face today is change. There can be two ways of change, radical or incremental. And radical change is getting a total change and incremental change is getting a change in the process of time, say for example the evolutions in technology day by day.

It depends in which situation what is better for an individual. Sometimes he needs a radical change and most times incremental. I reckon almost all of us are undergoing an incremental change is life since it’s more to with gradual improvement which everyone should. There goes a saying “Stagnation is a sin”.

I had mentioned that my x-colleagues proclaimed that my Sydney stint would change me. I think it has, and it is big time change. On analysis I can certainly say that it is definitely not lost in transition types of change. My godfather always believed that I should try everything to get to know the difference. Unless you shave, you wouldn’t know how your face will look without a beard and mush. It’s the same thing here. Unless people come out to see different cultures we wouldn’t know our culture properly.

Getting back to classes again, we had an exercise, where we were segregated into two different cultural groups with rules and put into different rooms. One person from each exchanging culture should try to get into the other culture and strike a business deal. The group that wins the deal after crossing all the ethical barriers can proclaim itself to be winners.

What a game it was. It really showed how difficult it is to do business in another culture with the barriers that may surpass you on the way. This is something quite the same. There it was business proposition and here the business is the degree that you earn. You not only learn the subject or the academic qualification that you are chasing after, but also learn so many things which helps in shaping up yourself as a whole individual.

As I have always asserted, an all rounder will sail higher up than any particular person with specialized skill sets. So what foreign education especially in western countries teaches you is the ability to be a well rounded individual apart from being good at whatever you are learning.

This changes you as a human being. It brings in those responsibilities in your life, which you wouldn’t have even dreamt about if you would have studied in your home country. I am not trying to say that home education is inferior in any ways, but I just want to claim that it doesn’t make you as much well rounded as you would want yourself to be.
Like I mentioned change in the beginning; in this ever changing world, where in there are mostly Multi Nationals, Global players doing global businesses it is a must for them to also look at Global students to attain the best possible results.

Changes

Seven months back, I still remember the promises I made to myself rather, resolutions. If I recall them one by one, I can feel the state of my being here today so different. I was a long termed man. Mostly I would like to think what’s going to happen some fifteen years down the lane. It was the same thinking, when I met a girl or when I joined my MBA. The short term productivity doesn’t used to matter so much as the long term.

But now after having my existence in this “Mate” land, I sense I have had some enormous changes in myself. I cannot imagine how it was me who wrote the post, Am I orthodox?, some time back. I just happened to read that post before writing this by mistake and I should say it is more or less an inspiration behind this scribbling. For those of you to understand this better, I think you should read the last one to get a better understanding of the following.

There was a post sometime back on a class lecture on Social Engineering. It was part of my Organizational Behavior class. The topic was part of reshaping identity and crisis involved with the same. The professor explained how people’s ethics, values, beliefs, etc can change by learning that he undergoes in the society. Society or the group of people that you are with always influence you to the core by making you learn. Learning is a continuous process. It’s always good to learn and what education teaches you is nothing but the ability to learn.

Today sitting here comparing myself with an AS (After Sydney) and BS (Before Sydney), I can pronounce, how true is that. Am I totally changed? What made me change? Exactly what is change?!

Will be continued……..

I blog here for fun. I am here again in a transmition stage of life. It seems to me that I get back into this cycle sooner than expected. But it is nevertheless unexpected. I have been working full time on call over the past three weeks and this style is going to continue further for another two weeks till my second semester commences.

Holidays were meant to be given for having fun. But in here I think its the other way round. I think this plight is same with all international students. Anyways I have not gone away from blogging. This is something which runs in my blood streams as of now. So I will be back. Was thinking about few topics that I can write on:
1. Why supermarkets won't rule the pop & mom stores in India?
2. The consumer behaviour in supermarkets
3. The art of running a supermarket.
4. A supreme lesson on how to do "capping"!

Do you think these things will turn into posts?! Are you crazy? May be the first one since I have been thinking a bit too much about that for a while now and have my own reasons as to why I think supermarkets may not succeed big time in India.

I will try to keep this blog updated till my semester begins.

What is the height of joblessness? Ask me I will tell you, sit in the front of the computer and read stories relating to Fight club or some nonsense eternal crap which talks about the biological evolutions of mankind and its frugality towards eternal crap. I have no idea as to express my opinion over this and ponder my emotions to find out a stable answer.

Why you may ask? I will answer Vacations. Due to the financial year end there seems to lesser time I spend at work also. So there is no concrete time pass solutions available to me. I am Lazy! Too lazy to even blog....Will get over that fact soon I hope!
