What’s a change? An object or an entity which gets transformed may be, possibly, into a better state of being or existence. Change is something which is never constant. That’s why it’s called change else it would be something else. The biggest quandary that organizations or people face today is change. There can be two ways of change, radical or incremental. And radical change is getting a total change and incremental change is getting a change in the process of time, say for example the evolutions in technology day by day.
It depends in which situation what is better for an individual. Sometimes he needs a radical change and most times incremental. I reckon almost all of us are undergoing an incremental change is life since it’s more to with gradual improvement which everyone should. There goes a saying “Stagnation is a sin”.
I had mentioned that my x-colleagues proclaimed that my Sydney stint would change me. I think it has, and it is big time change. On analysis I can certainly say that it is definitely not lost in transition types of change. My godfather always believed that I should try everything to get to know the difference. Unless you shave, you wouldn’t know how your face will look without a beard and mush. It’s the same thing here. Unless people come out to see different cultures we wouldn’t know our culture properly.
Getting back to classes again, we had an exercise, where we were segregated into two different cultural groups with rules and put into different rooms. One person from each exchanging culture should try to get into the other culture and strike a business deal. The group that wins the deal after crossing all the ethical barriers can proclaim itself to be winners.
What a game it was. It really showed how difficult it is to do business in another culture with the barriers that may surpass you on the way. This is something quite the same. There it was business proposition and here the business is the degree that you earn. You not only learn the subject or the academic qualification that you are chasing after, but also learn so many things which helps in shaping up yourself as a whole individual.
As I have always asserted, an all rounder will sail higher up than any particular person with specialized skill sets. So what foreign education especially in western countries teaches you is the ability to be a well rounded individual apart from being good at whatever you are learning.
This changes you as a human being. It brings in those responsibilities in your life, which you wouldn’t have even dreamt about if you would have studied in your home country. I am not trying to say that home education is inferior in any ways, but I just want to claim that it doesn’t make you as much well rounded as you would want yourself to be.
Like I mentioned change in the beginning; in this ever changing world, where in there are mostly Multi Nationals, Global players doing global businesses it is a must for them to also look at Global students to attain the best possible results.
