There are few times in your life where you would get to say synchronisation. It’s really difficult to attain it, moreover it is even difficult to persist & sustain the same. You wonder if you could come up with anything so intelligent. After a while you ponder your thoughts (now synchronised), to recollect few names to recognise if they were physically & mentally synchronised. Then bang comes out one name!

I am a guy who meets heaps of people. I like being at the center of things. I like people who are at the center of things, at-least (all though I don’t see many people who are at the center of things). If there are any, then I really don't get inspired by them; very few men from whom I draw inspiration I should say. My inspirations (or motivations) are mostly from within, & would say I draw them from very few people who are around me. If you were to ever say- “hey that guy did this” or “he did that”, I wouldn't respond by 'yeah?', 'awesome', etc unless those are things which I wasn't able to do & he has done it. In-fact mostly that's what is called as stimulation (I guess).

I have met many such guys in the cricketing arena. They are physically charismatic people but when it comes to mental charisma they aren't the ones who you would draw brainwave from. But this man is someone very special to me. He is the first man I have seen with the mix of physical & mental charisma. The right mixture with the right proportions; synchronised as I mentioned earlier – I would say in short a H2O.

Now when I say physical charisma, what do I really mean?

Mere presence supersedes the handsome “hunkiness”. If you would meet this guy & speak to him for about ten minutes (leaving aside what he is or knowing nothing about him) you would finish up the conversation wondering 'hey this guy is got to be someone, definitely'. That's what I am talking about when I say physical charisma. The way one presents himself along with what he delivers out of his mouth using the transmission channel of the stuff between the ears – all matters. Personally coming from schools & colleges with great history to their name, I was fortunate enough to meet people who are supposed to be 'charismatic'. But the eventual meetings don’t articulate the same from the desired. They are mere human beings on the face of this earth, hyped to hell, yet another one, existent just because it's illegal to kill!

What do I mean by mental charisma?

You may be physically attractive, looking exactly like one of those models for Van Huesan advertisements, yet when you open your mouth you must let people know what's there between your ears. No use having a good looking head with gelled straight hair if there is nothing inside it. So that's what I mean by "mental charisma". The ability to convince or inspire people just by the way you are saying something. In all I would say this guy is a fusion of all, with a definite gift & most importantly optimum utilisation of whatever he is gifted with.

Now, obviously when you meet such a character you will want to talk to him, ask him what he thinks about lot of things, right from the company to the local food joint. If at all I didn't have a chance to ask all the A-Z questions out of my dictionary, I certainly asked the most important question which I wanted to. 'How did you become what you are today?' It certainly didn't make him look at me like a moose. But in the normal sense I wanted to know how he creates that energy whenever he does something. I know of at-least ten people who went to him & asked the same question. He laid out some of the most important things that took him to what he is today.

The first quality he listed was the quality of listening. There is a lot of difference between listening & hearing. He clearly mentioned his ability to listen to anybody & everybody no matter what that person was saying or who that person was. The second quality he said was planning. Any fool can plan one step ahead, if you are smart you will plan two steps ahead, he mentioned. The third important quality he laid down was the way he learned from anybody & everybody. There is no need for you to experience the same thing, although you can learn it from someone who has undergone it.

He also told me one story - a story which his professor shared during his MBA days. List down the things that you don't want to do, invariably those are going to be the things which you would end up doing, his professor had advised. How true that is in my case, I wondered. I wanted to represent the country but now what the hell am I doing, I pondered. He certainly gave me his email id, personal one, asked me to be in touch with him.

Now after all this, you would think I will say I want to be like him when I am older. Yes, certainly yes, but not exactly like him. I am certainly inspired by him. But I want to be myself, improving on qualities that will make me to be like him. This is a harsh statement considering all that I have written about. But I hope you understand what I am trying to convey. Every individual is unique. If he would have said or thought he wanted to be like some one else then we wouldn't have seen the real him. So ultimately you are what you are, hoping that in the future someone would want to be like you.

It's time for me to reveal his name, Ricky Bindra, not Bond-Ricky-Bond like the famous Ian Fleming 007 style. Now if I think about my synchronisation with him, we bid adieu to our company on the same day. Is it a case of Great-men-thinking-alike?
